It is too soon to pay tribute to Cecilia Daisie, a true Fanti lady, that work brought into my life, not only as work colleagues but eventually as personal friends. The sad news of her demise has been a real shock, yet to be overcome.

She and I shared one boss so on a daily basis, when I’d get summoned by the boss, she’d convey the message, and depending on her tone, I’d have a clue on the purpose of the summons so I could prepare.  She was a professional to a fault, very assiduous, confidential, dependant and sociable.  She would put you at ease when pressure built up as though she was pressure free.

Our formal working relationship developed over time into a personal friendly one.  We used to share problems of our teenage children and compare notes. We both loved gardening so she made sure to keep bags of organic manure for me from a backyard poultry business she ran. At least once a month, I went to her house to pick up my manure and ended up with weekend healthy cooking lectures.

We kept our friendship even after retirement. Her temporary location to the US did not separate us, as we still kept in touch. The last time I saw her face to face was in July 2021 but COVID-19 did not permit us to chat for long. We promised to get together when Covid was over as she heartily informed me she was now more at home than in the States.

Ceci, death has robbed us of a friendship we nurtured for over one decade.  But the consolation is that we shall meet again and celebrate eternal life.

Sleep well in the Lord, dear one until the Resurrection Day.
