I want to take a moment to pay tribute to my colleague and mentor, who I called My Champion; and that’s because Aunty Ceci has been a guiding light, not just for my professional journey but for my personal life as well.
Her wisdom, guidance, and unwavering support really helped me navigate the challenges encountered both as a young worker, from the then UAC to Unilever, and as a working mother.
As a first born child, I had my siblings looking up to me for guidance, counsel and support, and Auntie Ceci was always my consultant, my support and counselor.
She always found ways to smart work-life balance, including shopping, packaging and storing food in bulk to save time and money. Who can forget the home-grown free range chicken she provided us during Easter and Christmas, plus freshly baked cakes and more.
Her dedication to work, passion for excellence, and willingness to share her knowledge and expertise was a constant source of inspiration for me.
Aunty Ceci was my first point of contact when I relocated to the USA. She had experienced all the challenges I was about to face as an immigrant. Her wise counsel made my stay in the US much easier than expected.
My “Champion Mama”, “Summons”, “Hey some of you”, “Mo-nko na y3n ko bi oo!”, I am grateful for all you’ve taught me. Your mentorship has been invaluable and I am honored to have had the privilege of having such an amazing woman as my friend.
Thank you for your friendship Aunty Ceci, for everything you have done for me and my family and for being such a shining example of what it means to be a true colleague and friend.
It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye to you my life coach. I will miss you dearly, but I take comfort in knowing that you are at peace now and resting with your maker.
Rest in peace, Aunty Ceci.
You will always hold a special place in my heart.
